15/01/10 - Looking Forward

We have been making plans after talking to some of our Mums and school teachers about what improvements we can make to the farm.  Our main change is going to be to divide the farm into three areas:

1) PICNIC/EATING areas which will include the playbarn, tearoom, teagarden, lawn and the adventure playgound.

2) LOOK and SEE areas where children will be able to see, but not touch, the animals.  This will include a new FARM WALK ending in a new VIEWING GALLERY overlooking the Main Barn, so that they can still see the lambs, calves and goat kids but not get too close to them.  And . . .

3) LOOK and TOUCH areas where children can come in close contact with the animals.

The VIEWING GALLERY is open already and there are lots of LOOK and SEE areas open.  The LOOK and TOUCH in the top barn (pigs and ponies) should be open by the first week in March.  LOOK and TOUCH in the main barn (up close to the sheep and goats) we have scheduled to complete by mid March.  We'll do our best.  The rest of the work will involve moving fences and making some new paths, but we have already started on this work and it should be finished later in the year.

And as for non-animal activities - Builder Ben's yard in the play barn has been a great success with houses, walls and mountains contructed from cardboard boxes and train running a long way across the floor on wooden rails.

If you have any ideas of other activities we might do, thoughts for improvements or any queries at all then do give us a ring on 01883 742546 or email havefun@godstonefarm.co.uk.  We would love to hear from you.
